Sabhanaz Rashid Diya

Executive Director

Sabhanaz Rashid Diya is a computational social scientist with over 19 years of experience in tech policy and human rights. She was previously the Head of Public Policy for Bangladesh at Meta, where she focused on diverse regulatory topics, including online harms, data protection and the data economy, online harms, algorithmic transparency and artificial intelligence, and competition. Prior to Meta, Diya worked at the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, leading policy and advocacy efforts in multidisciplinary digital economy, data and AI issues. Her career spans across private and public sector in the U.S., Asia and Africa, including USAID and the World Bank, on money transmission, national security and encryption, digital trade and internet governance. Diya is also the founding Board Director for U.S. Bangladesh Business Council at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. She holds a Master's degree in public policy from the University of California, Berkeley. She is a senior fellow at Centre of International Governance Innovation, visiting fellow at Oxford Internet Institute, and advisory member at the Freedom Online Coalition (FOC) and International Foundation for Electoral Systems (IFES).
