Tech Global Institute and Derechos Digitales will jointly host an online session titled Designing Community-Centric Data Governance, as a side event to the WSIS+20 UNGA High-Level-Meeting. The session will be held on December 16, 2025, from 1:00 PM to 2:30 PM EST.
Register to attend the online session here.
The session will challenge the traditional state-versus-corporation data control paradigm by exploring practical, community-centered governance models for the Global South. The core of the session is an interactive, hands-on model-building exercise.
Insights from the session will be synthesized in a plenary session, creating a co-designed model. The event will culminate in a critical reflective discussion with speakers on the policy pathways and regulatory enablers required to make such people-centric data governance a tangible reality, moving from theory to practice.
